Umm Assad Homeschool – ‘Mother of Lions: Slave of Allah’
Asalaamu alaykom wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu (May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you all) dear Parents and Guardians,
Bismillah! In the Name of Allah, All praise is due to Allah and may His peace and blessings be upon the messenger Muhammed and his family and companions and all those who follow their example in belief, understanding and manners.

A few reminders for ourselves first and foremost and then to you:
Allah Almighty says in the Glorious Qur’an:
“O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the messenger, and those put in authority over you. If you differ in anything among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His messenger, if you do believe in Allah and The Last Day: That is best and most suitable for final determination.” [Quran. Surah Nisaa’ 4: Ayah 59]
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar:
The Messenger of Allah (sal-Allahu alayhi wa salam) as saying: Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The amir (ruler) who is over the people is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock; a man is a shepherd in charge of the inhabitants of his household and he is responsible for his flock; a woman is a shepherdess in charge of her husband’s house and children and she is responsible for them; and a man’s slave is a shepherd in charge of his master’s property and he is responsible for it. So each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. [Sunan Abi Dawud. Sahih Al-Albani]
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
A man came to Allah’s Apostle and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man said. “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man further said, “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man asked for the fourth time, “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your father. ” [Volume 8, Book 73, Number 2]
The Prophet (sal-Allahu alayhi wa salam) said:
“When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); knowledge by which others benefit from, or a pious descendant who prays for him (for the deceased).” [Sahih Muslim Book 13]
Umar ibn Abdil-Aziz said:
“Become a scholar if you are able. If you are not able, then be a student. If you can not, then show love for them. If you are unable to do that, then (at least) do not hate them.” – Umar ibn Abdil-’Aziz [Ibn Abdil-Barr in Jaami’u Bayaanil-‘Ilmi wa Fadhlihi, #143]
Hishaam said: Al-Hasan Al-Basree and Muhammad ibn Sireen used to both say:
“Do not sit with the people of innovation and desires and do not debate with them and do not listen or benefit from them.” [Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah #395]
Ibn al-Qayyim – rahimahullâh – said:
“There are SIX stages to knowledge:-
Firstly: Asking questions in a good manner.
Secondly: Remaining quiet and listening attentively.
Thirdly: Understanding well.
Fourthly: Memorising.
Fifthly: Teaching.
Sixthly: and it is its fruit: Acting upon the knowledge and keeping to its limits.”[Miftâh Dârus-Sa’âdah (p.283)]
Shaykh Ahmed Al-Najmi said:
“The mother is the first school. If she is righteous, the progeny becomes righteous.” [Fath-ur-Rabb al-Wadud (2/256)]
There is no school like a Muslim Mother’s Home school and I mean that literally too since every word of it is unique. A ‘Muslim’ doesn’t just work for this world but also works for the hereafter, a ‘Mother’ is the first school to her children, she enjoins good and forbids evil and this mercy is the foundation of education and thirdly a ‘Home’ is the number one place where people feel most comfortable and if the household is safe, the community is safe.
And Allah Taala Knows Best!
May Allah guide us all to what pleases Him, and keep us on the straight path, Ameen. Please share, subscribe and comment!
