About the file:
Sight Words are the most frequently repeated words that children come accross in their reading such as ‘you’, ‘it’, ‘be’, ‘he’ etc…
Sight Words are critical to reading not only because they are used so frequently, but also because many of them cannot easily be sounded out or illustrated. Learning them helps children become more confident readers. This list of prescool/kindergarten sight words includes the most commonly used words every kid should know, also called high frequency words.
Young children are encouraged to memorise sight words as a whole by sight, so that they can automatically recognise these words in print without having to use any strategies to decode.
